All day I’ve had this phrase stuck in my head. На богине — na baginye. But I couldn’t remember what it meant in English. I thought of misty windswept moors and ancient bogs, or of cottages in the countryside.
I finally looked it up, and богиня means goddess. На богине — in the goddess.
In the goddess, the light moves slowly, and the wind blows forlornly over tall grasses. In the goddess, the air tastes like the sea, and loneliness is everywhere. In the goddess, you can get lost for a while, or forever, if you’re not careful. Her mists and moods can swallow you up.
